Latin in your secondary school

The Cambridge Latin Course

The Cambridge School Classics Project is helping schools to add Latin to the options they offer. The latest software, backed up by distance teaching, is enabling head teachers to make this significant enhancement to the curriculum without the need to hire a specialist teacher.

An introduction to this facility can be found here on the Cambridge School Classics Project website.

The Classics Academy

The Classics Academy provides after-school classes in Greek and Latin leading to GCSE, AS and A2. Classes typically run twice a week from 4.45 to 6.15 in term time only, and six terms are required to reach GCSE. There are usually 10-20 pupils in each class. The pace is demanding, the style rigorous but fun.

Many pupils are sponsored by their schools' Gifted & Talented funds, but private pupils are also welcomed. At present we work in London only, but we are gradually expanding our activities. For latest details of courses and fees, please visit us at www.classicsacademy.com

They say ...

"A knowledge of Latin is an opening to the very foundations of Western culture. In a multicultural age, there is a renewed interest in what does it mean to be Western? What does it mean to have a European background?" - Richard Cippola
